About My Work
My landscapes start with what I see outdoors en plein air wherever I am. Sometimes just sitting quietly and observing feeds my ideas. We are connected to nature and I aim to express what I see and feel through my work. I want to give a sense of place with my impressions in paint. The Canadian shield, rocks, shorelines, trees and swamps are all of interest. We all need to understand that even the most still places in nature are the lifeblood of our planet. Working on these themes along with others will enhance my expression of this criticality and how humans interact with the outside world. I am interested in finding ways to use my art to further bring awareness to our impact on our natural world. My work is constantly expanding and changing.
My abstract continue this idea but are inspired by impressions of and our relationship with the sea. Using line, form, shape and a limited acrylic paint pallet, I build up layers of colour and pattern to create depth and movement.
